Discontinued, Terminated or Reduced Services
When Are Occupational and/or Physical Therapy Services Discontinued, Terminated or Reduced?
An eligibility determination conference is held to discuss the student's progress in OT/PT. The guideline to discontinue, terminate or reduce OT and/or PT services may include, but may not be limited to, students whose:
1. Motor, perceptual and/or sensory integrative skills are determined to be age appropriate.
2. Progress has plateaued and/or whose progress has been minimal for at least one year.
3. Cognitive, social-emotional and/or behaviorally related problems adversely affect progress.
4. Therapy program can be taught to the educational team and/or parent if goals are geared toward maintenance.
5. Progress has been significant and whose needs can now be met by the standard educational program.
6. Level of functioning is adequate in order to participate in his/her educational program.
