 Cynthia Lorek Principal PAEC Therapeutic Day High School  #803 

Ms. Lorek earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Elmhurst College and joined the PAEC Team in 2003. She began her career at PAEC, teaching in a self-contained Transitional Skills Training Class, where she dedicated nearly two decades to supporting students with significant academic challenges. Her passion has always been to prepare students for success both in high school and beyond.

Throughout her career, Ms. Lorek has contributed to nearly every program at PAEC, demonstrating her commitment to the growth and success of all students. While teaching, she pursued her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University. After 19 years in the classroom, she transitioned into administration in the 2021–2022 school year, embracing the opportunity to make a broader impact across the Therapeutic Day Program.

As principal, Ms. Lorek remains deeply committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and empowering environment where every student can reach their full potential.


The PAEC Therapeutic Day High School Program is designed to meet the individual needs outlined in each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). We provide a structured environment that mirrors a traditional high school experience while offering individualized schedules, supported transitions, and social skills development. Staff consistently model, demonstrate, and reinforce strategies to help students build meaningful interpersonal and life skills.

It is with deep sadness

Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is with deep sadness that I share the news of the passing of one of our beloved teachers, Mr. George, on Tuesday, 11/25/25. This loss is felt deeply across our school community, as Mr. George was a dedicated educator who touched the lives of many students and staff.
We know that news like this can be difficult for children to process. Our counseling team will be available to support students who may need someone to talk to in the coming days. If you feel your child may need additional support, please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly. The 24 Hour Crisis Cell Number is 708-257-1808.
We ask that you keep Mr. George’s family, friends, and all those affected in your thoughts during this challenging time. We will share any information about memorial arrangements or ways to support the family as it becomes appropriate.

Con profunda tristeza les comparto la noticia del fallecimiento de uno de nuestros queridos maestros, el Sr. George, el martes 25 de noviembre de 2025. Esta pérdida es muy sentida en toda nuestra comunidad escolar, ya que el Sr. George fue un educador dedicado que marcó la vida de muchos estudiantes y personal.
Sabemos que noticias como esta pueden ser difíciles de procesar para los niños.
