Process Assessment of the Learner - Reading and Writing (PAL-RW)
The Process Assessment of the Learner -Reading and Writing (PAL-RW) lessons are based on 10 years of programmatic research funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) in response to the bipartisan congressional mandate that ALL children learn how to read. The lessons draw on socio-contextual, psycholinguistic, and brain research on literacy and can be used in multicultural classrooms. The lessons are organized according to the publisher's three-tier model of preventing and treating reading and writing disabilities. Since the fall of 2008, PAEC personnel have offered ongoing professional learning opportunities and consultative support to educators across the Proviso Township centered on successful implementation of the PAL-RW intervention.

SRA Corrective Reading
Corrective Reading is a supplemental intervention for students in grades 3-12 who are reading below grade level. The intervention consists of two independent strands: decoding and comprehension. The goal of the decoding strand is to teach alphabetic principal and phonemic awareness skills so students are able to read accurately and fluently, while the goal of the comprehension strand is to develop academic language skills and to strengthen the students’ ability to follow written directions and to understand what they read. PAEC personnel support educators in implementing and evaluating the reading intervention.
